So this bullshit post is going around.
Teachers’ hefty salaries are driving up taxes, and they only work 9 or 10 months a year! It’s time we put things in perspective and pay them for what they do – babysit! We can get that for minimum wage. That’s right. Let’s give them $3.00 an hour and only the hours they worked; not any of that silly planning time, or any time they spend before or after school. That …would be $19.50 a day (7:45 to……… 3:00 PM with 45 min. off for lunch and plan– that equals 6 1/2 hours). Each parent should pay $19.50 a day for these teachers to baby-sit their children. Now how many students do they teach in a day…maybe 30? So that’s $19.50 x 30 = $585.00 a day. However, remember they only work 180 days a year!!! I am not going to pay them for any vacations. LET’S SEE…. That’s $585 X 180= $105,300 per year. (Hold on! My calculator needs new batteries). What about those special education teachers and the ones with Master’s degrees? Well, we could pay them minimum wage ($7.75), and just to be fair, round it off to $8.00 an hour. That would be $8 X 6 1/2 hours X 30 children X 180 days = $280,800 per year. Wait a minute — there’s something wrong here! There sure is!
The average teacher’s salary (nation wide) is $50,000. $50,000/180 days = $277.77/per day/30 students=$9.25/6.5 hours = $1.42 per hour per student–a very inexpensive baby-sitter and they even EDUCATE your kids!) WHAT A DEAL!!!!
Heaven forbid we take into account highly qualified teachers or NCLB…
Make a teacher smile; re-post this to show appreciation ♥ all you out there! Standing up for our children’s educators, one of the most important people in our kids lives. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It is so chock-full of entitlement and victimization bullshit that I have a hard time commenting on the post. Mostly just the fact they can’t form their own political or social political opinion, They just have to keep reposting bullshit is probably my biggest trigger.
Let’s talk about the fact that the whole world knows you don’t get rich being a teacher, and the whole world knows that you don’t work during the summer, per se. as a teacher, I didn’t get drafted and then Shanghaid into some shit I didn’t know I was getting in, so I’m not a victim. I chose a career and matches one of my many skill sets. I’m not a one trick pony. I bet you warranty either.
If you feel like your salary is unfair, fucking quit- if you don’t have a skill set that is competitive in the free-market,I’m sorry you accidentally became a slave to the common core – get out. The reason a parent, or teacher, or that many administrators who had a choice when the states sold them down the river to the biggest most corrupt plantation to steamroll through our occupation since the new deal. Sorry about the mixed metaphor.
But every time you sanctify education and subsequently act as if you’re entitled to more money in civil society is willing to pay and then act like victims ,you set a standard that doesn’t leave any room for error. And every time you think you’re “changing the world” as a teacher, put your ego down and get off your high horse and feed it your desk Apple , it’s probably hungry from carrying you around.
Public-school teachers literally get paid from other peoples money whether those other people like it or not. Public-school teachers get paid from a well of compulsory taxation that includes payers who don’t even have children in that system. It’s one more bloated and failing economic disaster, just like every other government entitlement program. I know that’s not why you became a teacher.
You sound like a middle school student who didn’t do his homework and thinks it’s unfair that he’s getting an F, when you complain about your salary. How much of other peoples money do you think you’re entitled to?
